TASTE COMMUNITY RESTAURANT LAUNCHES NEW VEGETABLE-FORWARD SPRING MENU
Fort Worth’s nonprofit restaurant, Taste Community Restaurant, springs into a new season this week as it launches its new Spring menu. Chef Jeff Williams and the team, consisting mostly of volunteers, encourage all Fort Worth and surrounding area residents to come taste and see a new approach to serving our community.
While its new spring menu may be noted for what is not included, specifically the absence of red meat, Taste’s new menu includes strawberry bruschetta, Campechana, harvest flatbread, fish or shrimp tacos, chicken picatta, and thick hand-made Pici pasta. For burger fans, the menu includes an all vegan Beyond Burger, with a Beyond Beef® patty topped with a tangy slaw and mustard on a toasted pretzel bun.
“This season’s menu is a very vegetable-forward approach to spring,” says Chef Jeff Williams, Founder and Executive Director of Taste Project. “We don’t exist to just serve food, but to serve people. And I hope this Spring’s menu intrigues people and brings even more folks to Taste Community Restaurant.”
Taste Community Restaurant is the first project of the Taste Project organization designed to help feed, educate, and serve Tarrant County’s food insecure population, a total of 16.6 percent of Tarrant County’s overall community.
Taste’s solution is a fresh and healthy pay-what-you-can restaurant where everyone in the community, regardless of financial means, can enjoy a healthy, high quality meal, made from seasonal ingredients from the surrounding area. The menu has no prices. Guests are simply asked to:
Pay what you can afford;
Pay what you would typically pay; or
Pay what you would typically pay, plus a little extra to help a neighbor in need.
To-date, Taste Community Restaurant has served over 30,000 people; some guests are in need, and others want to help. “Taste provides a great atmosphere and a chance to give back to the community,” says Austin, a guest at Taste Community Restaurant. “The seasonal menus are always tastefully crafted with simplistic wholesome ingredients.” Another guest wrote, “God bless you guys, the new spring menu is great!”
Fort Worth and surrounding area residents can spring into Taste Community Restaurant this season and enjoy a great meal while helping to build our community. Lunch is served from 11am – 2pm, Tuesdays thru Sundays.
