TASTE COMMUNITY RESTAURANT LAUNCHES NEW LOCALLY GROWN SUMMER MENU!

Our new summer menu, with a focus on locally grown produce, is now available at Taste Community Restaurant!

While seasonal menus are not a new concept in Fort Worth, Taste Community Restaurant is located in the city’s largest food desert where access to affordable good-quality fresh food is limited.

“We continue to explore ways to serve our community,” says Jeff Williams, Founder and Executive Director.  “Growing food in our community is a perfect opportunity to continue connecting people around food.”

As part of its new Urban Farm Project, Taste Project has been granted 1/3 acre at Opal’s Farms, also located within Fort Worth’s largest food desert.  We are growing cucumbers, squash, purple hull peas, and melons for our summer menu.

Our first project, Taste Community Restaurant, is a fresh and healthy pay-what-you-can restaurant where everyone in the community, regardless of financial means, can enjoy a healthy, high quality meal. The menu has no prices.  Guests are simply asked to:

  1. Pay what you can afford;

  2. Pay what you would typically pay; or

  3. Pay what you would typically pay, plus a little extra to help a neighbor in need.

“The food is always great and nutritious (the only good & healthy meal I eat is here)…” Taste Community Restaurant Guest

Jeff Williams encourages all Fort Worth and surrounding area residents to come become a part of the solution to food insecurity in our community by dining with us, or joining us to volunteer.
