Grant brings long-awaited facility improvements to life, helping preserve a community gathering place that has served more than 300,000 meals and is preparing to enter its tenth year of service.
November 3, 2026 – Fort Worth, Texas – On October 28, community volunteers and Lowe's red vest associates gathered to complete a large-scale renovation of Taste Project’s Taste Community Restaurant Fort Worth facility as part of Lowe's Community Impact Grant program. Taste Project has proudly been selected to receive a $50,000 Lowe's Community Impact Grant, helping to check off a bucket list renovation project that will strengthen the Fort Worth community. Through the program, Lowe's will invest $10 million in Lowe's Community Impact Grants and an additional $10 million to support more than 2,000 associate-led impact projects that will improve community spaces nationwide.
As one of 100 community projects in 2026 that make up this year's grant recipients, the Lowe's Community Impact Grant supports critical improvements throughout Taste Project’s Taste Community Restaurant Fort Worth location, including interior and exterior painting, patio and fence restoration, new kitchen flooring, new patio furniture assembly, garden improvements, and kitchen organization. These upgrades will create a more welcoming, safe, and functional environment for the thousands of guests served each year and help preserve a community resource that has provided more than 300,000 meals since opening its doors. As Taste Community Restaurant prepares to enter its tenth year of service, these improvements will help ensure the organization can continue serving the community with excellence for years to come.
"As we prepare to celebrate ten years of serving our community, we are incredibly grateful to Lowe's and the Red Vest volunteers for investing in the future of Taste Community Restaurant Fort Worth," said Jeff Williams, founder. "Over the past decade, this facility has been the setting for more than 300,000 meals shared with dignity and hospitality. These improvements will help us continue creating a welcoming space where people can gather around the table, experience community, and taste and see that the Lord is good for many years to come."
The investment is part of Lowe's Community Impact Program's five-year, $100 million commitment to revitalizing and restoring hometowns. Projects were selected from more than 5,000 nominations through Lowe's Community Bucket List. Each project will address local needs, from expanding food pantries to restoring shelters and safe housing resources to reviving outdoor spaces and renovating facilities for first responders and veterans.

About Taste Project
Taste Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit established to feed, educate, and serve our community so they may “…taste and see the Lord is good.” Psalm 34:8. We believe everyone should have access to healthy nutritious food. Our vision is to see our community become the solution to the challenges our community faces as it relates to hunger. Our first project, Taste Community Restaurant at 1200 South Main Street in Fort Worth, focuses on healthy, quality meals made from fresh ingredients. Our menu has no prices. This is a give-and-take concept. We ask guests to do one of the following: 1) pay what you can afford, 2) pay what you would typically pay, or 3) pay what you would typically pay, plus a little extra. In March 2025, Taste Project opened its second Taste Community Restaurant location at 200 North Cooper Street in Arlington.
