2025 was another incredible year for our community. Because of you, we served more people, enrolled and graduated more apprentices, and engaged volunteers to serve more hours than we ever have before. 

So much happened in 2025, its hard to sum up the year. But in true Tonight Show fashion, we have compiled a list of our Top 10:

As we enter this Christmas season, I find myself reflecting on the overflowing good we see each day at Taste Community Restaurants. From Grate-FULL beginnings to the Fruit-FULL change happening in lives across our community, this year has been marked by God’s provision and by your Faith-FULL partnership. 

You may have heard that the federal government shutdown has paused SNAP benefit distributions beginning November 1st. In Tarrant County, 49% of people experiencing food insecurity are eligible for SNAP, and 75,390 households currently receive SNAP, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

For many, this news is unsettling. Budgets are already tight, and families are being forced to make difficult choices between groceries, prescriptions, and other essentials. But here’s the good news: In our community, no one has to be afraid of going hungry...

We have officially served over 250,000 meals at Taste Community Restaurant!  This milestone is particularly unique because we operate without prices on our menu. Instead, everyone dines together.  An executive out for a business lunch dines alongside a single parent with her kids who is struggling to make ends meet.  Neither knows the other’s circumstances, yet all enjoy a healthy, nutritious meal.

2024 was another incredible year for our community.  Because of you, we served more people, enrolled and graduated more apprentices, and engaged volunteers to serve more hours than we ever have before.

So much happened in 2024, it’s hard to sum up the year.  But in true Tonight Show fashion, here are Jeff’s Top 10 from 2024.

We have officially served over 100,000 meals at Taste Community Restaurant!  This is an amazing milestone that demonstrates what God can accomplish through Taste Project.

Taste Project exists to feed, educate, and serve our community so they may, “…taste and see the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8).

and it always seemed as though the more lights a display had, the better it was.

When the pandemic hit, we closed the dining room at Taste Community Restaurant to the public; but the needs of our community were growing.

We miss you! Fort Worth is an incredible community of people. And we miss bringing everyone together at Taste Community Restaurant.

Food has the power to bring people together, even during these times. Over the last three weeks, we have served over 1,000 people in need at Taste Community Restaurant.

It has been two years since we opened the doors to Taste Community Restaurant. I will never forget our first service.

One year ago, the vision God had given me years before came to life as we opened the doors to Taste Community Restaurant and served our very first meal. It was the start to an amazing year. I often get asked, ‘Is it working?’

I’ve always been slightly consumed with the miracle of the loaves and fishes. But I never really understood what goes into serving a multitude of people. …that is until now.

As an organization, we have so much to be thankful for this year. God’s hand of provision rings through in every step that led to opening day on December 5th. The doors to Taste Community Restaurant finally opened! And we have begun creating an impact in our community.

Opening day is just around the corner! Construction is in its final stage, the kitchen is coming together, the tables and chairs are here, and the electrical power pole is in place! Chef Jeff is putting the finishing touches on a Fall Opening menu. ARE YOU READY???

August 22nd will come and go, and the doors to Taste Project will not yet open. With the interior near complete, we are simply awaiting new infrastructure to support our electrical power needs. It’s not what we hoped for. But as God reveals more and more to us, we’re realizing, it’s something much better.

We picked the worst building in the best neighborhood and we’re turning it into a place everyone can call home.

Taste Project is new to the Near Southside and we are still meeting each of our neighbors on South Main Street. Everyone is extremely interested, encouraging, and supportive of Taste and the work we will be doing in Fort Worth.
